War Horse Flute
This flute is a one of a kind! It is #1 in the Southern Plains Gallery Series and is signed and numbered. It reminds one of the original Courting Flutes of the Southern Plains.
The bird on this flute represents a Comanche War Horse, with a genuine horsehair mane, a red circle around the right eye and a black star on the left shoulder to honor the memory of my Grandmother, Blackstar.
The body is crafted from Pecky Red Cedar and features a painted Split-Tail Swallow on the open beak end. My Grandmother used to tell me to listen to the Split-Tails, for they came before the storms that would bring us wisdom.
The drops on this flute are made in typical Comanche fashion, utilizing mescal beans sandwiched by coppery trade brass beads with tin cones topping horsehair tufts.
The War Horse Flute is voiced liked the old time flutes, a little raspy and features our Signature Southern Plains Warble.
Tuned to the key of F# and in a 7/8" bore, this is a solid bore flute (no seams) and is finished in multiple coats of hand rubbed oil.
This offering includes the War Horse Flute, a Utah Sandstone and Red Oak Stand and a custom padded bag with shoulder strap so this Horse can go with you on the trail!
